John Cedarburg is the West and Central Florida Area Supervisor for the Colorado Rockies, where he has led professional scouting efforts since 1997. A 1985 graduate of Florida Southern College, he was a member of the Mocs’ National Championship team and quickly transitioned into collegiate coaching after graduation.
Cedarburg began his coaching career at South Florida Community College, serving as recruiting coordinator, hitting coach, and catching coach for over three years. There, he recruited future Major Leaguer James Hurst. He later joined Mississippi State under Hall of Fame coach Ron Polk, where he coached while earning two master’s degrees. In 1991, Cedarburg became Head Baseball Coach at Edison Community College, leading the program to its first winning season and producing future MLB players Chris Foster, Eric Knott, and Joel Piñeiro.
In pro scouting, Cedarburg earned Scout of the Year honors in 2002 and has helped bring numerous Rockies draft picks to the Major Leagues. He also served as President of the Florida Diamond Club from 1998 to 2001, where he helped restructure the organization and establish its Hall of Fame to honor the legacy of professional scouts.
Cedarburg is a founding member of the Southwest Florida Baseball travel organization, established in 1998 to support amateur baseball in the region. He lives in Florida with his wife, Geri, and is a proud father of three.
